Archaeologists are hunting for the remains of one of the largest armies ever to invade Britain. In the 9th Century, thousands of Vikings stormed these shores, but left little evidence of their bloody occupation.
In search of this lost army, an intrepid team reopens the gruesome mystery of a mass grave found under a Derbyshire vicarage lawn, to forensically piece together stories of women warriors and a king, reunited with his son in death.
They also unearth new evidence of a massive encampment, in what looks set to become one of the most significant Viking sites ever discovered in Britain…
